You can tell its the future because of all the neon.

Hello denizens of the most wonderful city on the West Coast. Night City is teeming with all kinds of things to do. In the combat zone you can do anything you want as long as it’s violence against your fellow man.

The second game of our little household Cyberpunk Combat Zone is done and in the books. It’s time to see if justice can prevail, or will the city continue to be run by a bunch of bad deeders.?

Night City looking good as always. I have noticed that MCP terrain works well for the scale.

The scenario for this game was Quarter Mile. The Tyger Claws would need to run across the length of the board and escape on the other side. Unfortunately for them, Maximum Mike knew they would be passing through this part of the combat zone and set up an ambush. One of the cool parts of this scenario is that it illustrates that it is poorly illuminated. This means that any shot over green range allows the defending model to reroll its reflex save. The bonus from cover is also doubled!

Objectives I drew. Lets say I was not expecting much.

The objectives I drew for this game did not seem very likely other than managing to win a game. Until we start playing games bigger than 100 EBN, it is hard to expect someone to pick up equipment, and this mission will end once over half of the enemy models are removed. Win some and you lose some!

Thee Tyger Claws coming from their side of the table looking for trouble.

The Tyger claws are setup. The sniper has a nice long sightline through most of the board. I was hoping that cover and the nighttime bonus would save me from the worst of it.

Agents of Justice setting in wait, ready to spring the trap.

The Claws deployed first and were favoring the Lawkeepers right side. The Sarge is an excellent little buff bot for officers near him, so I figured I would keep them as a little functioning team to fight the bigger portion of the enemy team. Mike and Max would be strong enough on their own to take out any stragglers that ran to the left side of the board.

The Oyabun leader of the gang ran forward, daring anyone to challenge her. Mike obliged.

Mike and Max would not have to wait long as the Oyabun ran to that side of the board and challenged anyone to take her down. Forgetting to take cover, Mike saw an opportunity. He ran to a position where she would not get any cover and wounded her twice with his heavy pistol.

Sarge and Officer Rick in position to stop anyone from running through the alley with their loyal doggo.

Veteran Onee-San moves up and wounds Sarge twice even while he is huddled behind cover. That rapid fire just never ceases to amaze me. Max follows up to try and remove Oyabun before she can make a get away. She grabs onto her leg and brings her to full redline. The police take a team inspire turn and Sarge takes a huff of a Airhypo to get a wound back. His bullet boo-boos feeling much better after taking some legal methamphetamines.

Maximum Mike sicks Max on the Oyabun before she can run away.

With a new outlook on life, Sarge orders the officer to shoot Onee-Chan before she can spray any more bullets their way. The Officer is filled with such transferred confidence that he manages to get a hit. Sarge follows after him and puts Onee-San out of her misery with a few well-placed shots. Max even manages to take down the Oyabun permanently.

Blurry drone footage of the Ronin sniper lining up a shot on Sarge and inflicted serious pain.

The tactical officer moves up to get into position to take care of the Kyodai. He kicks over the Onee-San body and finds a tube of spray lube. He takes a shot at the Kyodai who comes running full speed at him. He swings and clangs against his shield. He then sprays the newly-found lube on his feet and watches as he slides away into the open.

Why was Onee-San carrying around a tube of lube? Mind your own business Choom.

I admit we had a very good laugh about all of this and the sequence it took place.

Kyodai was looking to take care of business, but slipped on a puddle of hastily sprayed lube.

With the Oyabun taken care of, Maximum Mike moved into position and shot the very slippery Kyodai before he could regain his composure. Seeing the direction this battle is going, the Ronin Assassin and Ronin Sniper run full speed across the table and get ready to leave before they get dragged into a scuffle.

The two that were destined to get away.

With exactly half of the gangsters dead, all of them would need to escape for the Tyger Claws to win. With a team refresh, Mike pointed at the Waka who needed to die. Max runs at the gangster and chews off two wounds from the gangster before Mike walks up and calmly puts him out of his misery. Securing a win for the Lawmen.

He had no chance to escape once Max grabbed onto his leg.

Justice as prevailed this day and I get to try and play catch up. I picked Maximum Mike to promote with my win, which makes him even better at shooting. I also get to bring a free Gonk next game. This is great since it gives me a chance to give that game mechanic a shot. Who doesn’t love the idea of having some hapless idiot trying to keep himself together?

Currently the score is Tyger Claws keeping the lead with 2 Influence and the Lawmen only at 1. It surprises me how quickly that score can go up if you manage to draw some decent objectives.

That is another update in the (body) bag guys. That was a homicide joke, Taylor. If you are a fan of the cyberpunk-type genres, then make sure you check out Arachne: An Infinity Podcast. We will for sure be talking about this game at some point so make sure you keep your ears perked up.
