Newsflash from Night City 3

You can tell its the future because of all the neon.

Helloooooooo Night City survivors. It’s your radio jock with the most in the dock, it’s Dr. D coming to you through the supervision-free source of violent homicide in the little town known as Night City!

We got another news report of violence in the combat zone that I have just been dying to let you know about. This time around some tech head must have forgot a load of crap he left in a part of the zone. Thankfully, NCPD heard about it and showed up to return it to its rightful owners until the Tyger Claws showed up to do their usual blood-soaked antics.

I apologize for some of the pictures in this one. For some reason the camera was not taking clear shots and I was not aware until after we were done. It should be fixed for next post.

The map as it was created. I managed to get a lot of my old MCP terrain from where I left it to make some neat boards. I am a sucker for a narrative board.
From the other angle.

This scenario involved 6 tech nodes being placed on the board, 2 in the middle and 4 placed by the players in their halves of the tables at least yellow away from other objectives or models. It would require a tech roll to figure out how to pick them up. Which of course sounds easier than it was.

The objects have to be a certain distance from each other. Makes it so the game doesn’t end too quickly. Have to make time for the violence. These set of objectives are closer to the Lawkeepers
Objectives on the other side of town, closer to the Tyger Claws.
I admit I was not feeling so hot about these objective cards. At a certain point in the game I did decide to go for the full team kill, but that objective is going to be tough in any game mode.

The police clearly were not expecting trouble as the Tyger Claws started the festivities by running the Ronin Assassin and Wakagashira into position of a tech node and failing to break into it over and over again. Let me just spoil the first 10-20 mins of this whole game by saying both sides could not figure out how to press the buttons correctly.

Mike saw this as a challenge and ran up behind a car before calmly shooting the Wakagashira in the tummy and giving him a wound. The Ronin Sniper on overwatch saw Mike move up, and just easily, not caring about the two sources of cover, crit Maximum Mike and put two big red square on his card. What a shot!

Mike is probably thinking he needs to take this car in for question after this game. Clearly the cover was not working correctly.
One of the main concerns from me was putting Mike so close to the other gang. I was expecting him to get more focused down than he did. The sniper was a real punch to the gut this early with the crit.

Max moves up to see if he can finish off the Wakagashira, but only manages to get one more wound on him. The Oyabun also goes to the middle expecting to find the elusive data, but manages to fail all of her rolls as well.

The middle turns into a massive scrum that no one manages to get any wounds for a considerable amount of time. It was actually insane how many dice we both rolled and managed to not do wounds or beat the environmental dice to get the middle data point. The Tactical Officer, Ryan, manages to grab the left objective.

The middle of the table turned into one huge scrum for the two middle objectives.

Finally, Mike manages to put a bullet into Kyodai and put a wound on him. Sarge would follow this success by running off to a side objective and actually managing to pick it up. Max eventually brings down Wakagashira by chewing through him with the deadly provided by Maximum Mike pointing his finger aggressively. What a good boy!

Sarge proved why he is in charge and managed to pick up the first objective.

Oyabun manages to pick up the both of the data points in the middle. Surrounded on all sides by people and dogs that want to take her down. The uncontested and rerolling ronin sniper presents a massive issue, so the tactical officer runs up the board and gets within range to disrupt his shots and pings a wound off of him to reduce his effectiveness.

The dogs really started to come into their own in the middle brawl. It turned into a huge mess.
Tactical Officer moved into position to stop the sniper was getting his reroll and could be used to inflict damage and threaten him later.

The Sniper sees the situation turning and runs to the right side of the board to grab the closest tech point. Who would have known a sniper was so good at opening up data caches? The Sniper then uses his last action to crawl to the next tech cache that will win them the game. The Oyabun runs across the table to slice down the tactical officer. She cuts the poor officer down where he stands with her space sword.

Sarge returns the favor by putting down the Ronin Sniper and seemingly putting the data cache out of reach of the Tyger Claws.

Sniper made a surprise run for it and was threatening to win the game if the Tyger Claws managed to grab another objective.
Tactical Officer Rick runs up to grab the objective and gets ready to hopefully take down the Onee-Chan during his next activation.

Onee-Chan moves up to grab the data pack left behind by Tactical Officer Ryan. Max finishes off the ronin assassin and then attempts to slow down the Oyabun by putting a wound on her. Thinking it would be enough to stop her from running across the entire board by turning her actions red.

Oyabun puts down the tactical officer and leaves the objective open for Onee-Chan to pick it up.
Sarge puts the ronin sniper down to stop the Tyger Claws from getting an especially quick win.
Stupid gonk rookie cop only moved around the entire game since he couldn’t find a spot to actually shoot anything.
Max was consistently a good boy and managed to lay down a whole lot of pain.

Poor doggo was proven wrong as she sprints across the table to pick up the object with her very last action. Mike has a chance to kill Oyabun with a crit. All he has to do is put her down and it should be relatively easy to clean up the scum that has infested his streets. All he needs to do is roll his dice and get a crit.

Standing over the dead body of the ronin sniper, the Oyabun picks up the last objective needed to win the game.

He misses and the game ends with a win for the Tyger Claws.

That is another update in the (body) bag guys. That was a homicide joke, Taylor. If you are a fan of the cyberpunk-type genres, then make sure you check out Arachne: An Infinity Podcast. We will for sure be talking about this game at some point so make sure you keep your ears perked up.
